While the 2020 iteration of this trade show and conference was held entirely online, the 2021 event is set to take place at the Mirage Hotel & Casino from September 7 to 9. The show is set to kick off at 7:30 am on Tuesday, September 7, with a set of outdoor UAV demonstrations. The aim is to give attendees a visual and tactile appreciation for what the latest airframes, power systems and payloads can do, with a level of assurance and realism that online videos and demonstrations cannot achieve. So far, eight companies are signed up to give detailed displays of what their technologies can do to push the capabilities of unmanned aircraft in aerodynamics, intelligence, robustness and other key mission qualities. Meanwhile, starting at 8 am on the 7th, the conference sessions will cover a number of new product launches and technological innovations. Also, new kinds of services facilitated by autonomous aircraft such as emergency medical deliveries, urban air mobility and indoor industrial inspections will be discussed. Hot-button issues such as UAS regulations, cyber security, machine learning and much more will also be featured among the many talks and roundtables. On the expo floor, a wide range of countries and technologies will be represented, including a plethora of never-before-seen products including Lidar sensors, flight control, power and energy solutions and complete UAV systems for attendees to sample. Elsewhere at the show, a series of workshops will be held for discussion, training and instruction on a number of important topics for commercial UAS operations, including photogrammetry techniques, working with Lidar and flying at night. A university pavilion and roundtable will also be available. Representatives of organisations such as the University of North Dakota’s Research Institute for Autonomous Systems will be on hand to talk about the best practices in not only r&d and experimental testing, but also UAS-focused education programmes for fostering the necessary engineering competencies for pushing the technological boundaries of unmanned systems.
