DTC Communication links for Unmanned Systems. Based on an innovation single board construction and rugged enclosure, the SOL8SDR-M is DTC’s smallest, lightest, low power consumption Mesh radio which has been designed to deliver secure and robust communications for unmanned platforms for mission critical applications. Blucore SOL8SDR-M DTC Communicate without compromise Auve Tech Iseauto | Dossier For the time being however, its 1200 kg mass is still less than that of many of its competitors of comparable size and performance, which makes for decent efficiency and much shorter braking distances. Composite materials will also be incorporated into some sections whose 3D shapes make them difficult to vacuum-mould. “In the earliest CAD and FEA simulations we really focused on how to make the vehicle as strong as possible, as safety was a critical consideration back then, but over time we’ve realised we can optimise the strength to save weight,” Mossov explains. “By switching to plastics and aluminium in places rather than steel, or alternatively using thinner walls of steel throughout the frame, the vehicle carries less mass, so it becomes more energy-efficient, and it also brakes much quicker, making it safer for everyone inside and nearby. “We’ve also transferred the Iseauto’s manufacturing to a brother company, called Auve Production, to enable the engineers there to hone their competencies in vehicle assembly and automated production systems, while Auve Tech will focus on the r&d. We think this is a smarter way of organising our engineers than keeping them all in a single large company.” Localisation As the vehicle has been designed primarily for closed-route operations, its environments will consist largely of pre- mapped areas and journeys. Most of the burden of autonomy will therefore be placed on detecting moving objects and avoiding collisions with them, rather than needing to follow or alter waypoints on the way to a destination. As a result, the GNSS and IMU are useful for verifying the Iseauto’s position, but they are not relied on for much of the onboard decision-making. This is also important, as the vehicle is likely to be weaving between buildings and through occasionally narrow streets and driveways, which will intermittently cause GNSS outages. “From a security perspective it’s quite easy to mess up the GNSS signal remotely, so if we’re really going to make this connected transport system as safe as a traditional taxi, it must be able to completely understand its environment at the local level, like a driver would,” Mossov says. “So the Lidar is the main navigation tool for our vehicle. It’s always generating point clouds of the Iseauto’s surroundings, and comparing those clouds with stored 3D models of what the area is supposed to look like, in order to localise itself and understand what possible obstacles there may be.” Auve’s approach to localisation notably echoes the approach previously taken by Nutonomy, which opted to rely on Perfect vision Anytime, Anywhere Customized to meet your requirements Geo features & Moving map Multi-target tracker & Moving target detection DST CONTROL - [email protected] - www.dst.se Based on an innovative single board construction and rugged enclosure, the SOL8SDR-M is DTC’s smallest, lightest, low power consumption Mesh radio which has been designed to deliver secure and robust communications for unmanned platforms for mission critical applications.
