The R&S EVSD1000 VHF/UHF analyser is intended to work on a UAV to provide the accurate and reliable navigation required for optimising air traffic control. The EVSD1000 is a signal-level and modulation analyser that combines measurements of instrument landing systems (ILS), ground-based augmentation systems and VHF omnirange (VOR) ground stations in a single box. The mechanical and electrical design is optimised for real-time measurements of terrestrial navigation systems from a UAV with up to 100 measurement data sets per second. It provides high-precision signal analysis in the 70-410 MHz frequency range, a critical requirement for UAV- based terrestrial navigation signal measurement systems. It also includes the necessary measurement repeatability to ensure that results from UAV measurements can be compared to flight and ground inspections, in line with the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation The analyser weighs 1.5 kg, and is designed to carry out measurements on ILS/VOR systems around an airport. It enables runway blocking times to be reduced compared to conventional manual testing methods that use a mast antenna while providing the necessary measurement repeatability, measurement precision and GNSS time and location stamps.
